Visual artist Šejma Fere builds her works from pictures found in printed materials and with this network of relationships between the heterogeneous contents, she reflects on the schizophrenia of the present moment in the context of the globalised world’s consumerism. She graduated in painting and graphics from the Faculty of Fine Arts in Belgrade. Her recent exhibitions include: Art at Work, MSUM, Ljubljana; Among Women: Serbian Contemporary Art, Bronx River Art Center; We Are Alive, with Saša Stojanović, Art Zadruga, Novi Sad. She received the Onassis Foundation’s special award for painting; she was a finalist in the Guasch Coranty Foundation Award for painting; received the Kolarac Foundation Award for best Exhibition. She lives in Belgrade and holds the status of an independent artist.
