INSTITUTE FOR PHILOSOPHY AND SOCIAL THEORY

The Institute of Philosophy and Social Theory (University of Belgrade) was founded in 1981, in order to employ the professors who, in the aftermath of 1968 students’ protests, had been removed from their teaching positions at the Faculty of Philosophy: Z. Golubović, M. Marković, D. Mićunović, N. Popov, S. Stojanović, Lj. Tadić and M. Životić. Nurturing its critical tradition, the Institute has, throughout its history, gathered engaged researchers, such as Z. Đinđić, V. Koštunica, V. Pešić… The IPST today represents an internationally relevant academic centre which has contin-ued to base its work on the culture of critical reflection on the society and social engagement.
